Grand Tour of Morocco — 13 Days Across the Kingdom

This is Morocco with nothing left out. Starting and ending in Marrakech, thirteen days trace a grand loop through every face of the kingdom: the palaces and souks of Marrakech, the Hassan II Mosque rising from the Atlantic in Casablanca, the capital Rabat, cosmopolitan Tangier where two seas meet, and Chefchaouen — the blue-washed mountain town with a full free day to get lost in it. Through spiritual Ouezzane you reach Meknès and the Roman ruins of Volubilis, then two days in Fes, the oldest medieval city in the world. The road south crosses the cedar forests of Ifrane and the Ziz valley to the Sahara: a 4x4 ride into the dunes of Erg Chebbi, a sunset camel trek, and a night in a Berber camp beneath the stars. The return follows the Todra Gorge, the Dades and Rose valleys, Ouarzazate and the UNESCO ksar of Aït Ben Haddou over the Tizi n’Tichka pass to Marrakech.
