Camel Rides near Agadir

Our camel rides happen at sunset on the coast north of Agadir. After a drive past the surf villages of Tamraght and Taghazout, you meet your camel in the banana plantations near Tamri, put on traditional nomad clothing and ride through the fields to Tamri Beach as the sun drops into the Atlantic. The evening ends with a barbecue dinner of grilled meat, salads and Moroccan dishes, with vegetarian options. If you want more out of the afternoon, the combo adds a sandboarding session on the dunes before the ride.

Which camel experience to choose

The sunset camel ride with dinner is the simpler evening: pickup in the late afternoon, the ride through the plantations to the beach for sunset, then dinner, all inside about three and a half hours. It runs with guides who speak English, French, German and Arabic and takes children from the age of two.

The sandboarding, camel ride and barbecue combo turns it into a five-hour afternoon. You start on the dunes with the boards and equipment provided, taking as many runs as you like, then climb onto a camel as the sun gets low and ride across the sand while the sky changes colour. Dinner follows, with mint tea and water. Groups on the combo stay small, at a maximum of 12 people.

How the evening unfolds

Your driver picks you up and follows the coast past Tamraght, Taghazout and Aghroud to the banana plantations near Tamri. There you meet your camel and put on traditional nomad clothing before the ride through the plantations towards Tamri Beach. You arrive in time to watch the sun set over the Atlantic, then head back to the ranch to eat.

The dinner

Dinner on the sunset ride is a barbecue of grilled meat served with salads and other Moroccan dishes, and vegetarian options are available if you ask when you book. Soft drinks are not included. On the sandboarding combo, dinner is a traditional Moroccan barbecue of grilled meats with side dishes, served with mint tea and water; other drinks are extra.

Practical details

The evening breeze on Tamri Beach can be cool once the sun is down, so bring a layer, and closed shoes make the sand and the plantation paths easier. A camera is worth having for the sunset. Pickup covers hotels in Agadir, Taghazout, Tamraght, Paradis Plage and Aourir and the cruise port, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the start, and the price per person is shown on each listing.
