About Timlaline Dunes
Timlaline (sometimes spelled Timlalin) is a stretch of pale-gold dunes squeezed between the Atlantic cliffs and a hidden canyon, about 90 minutes north of Agadir. Most travellers have never heard of it — and that's the point.
The dunes face west toward the ocean, which means perfect sliding angles for sandboarding plus a sunset view few travel guidebooks mention. The "secret canyon" — a narrow, water-cut wadi between the dunes and the road — is a 5-minute walk away and adds another layer of wow to the half-day.

How to get there
90 min / 70 km drive north from Agadir along the coast road via Tamraght → Aourir → Tamri → Aghroud. Last 5 km is unpaved but flat. No public transport. Tours include hotel pickup from Agadir, Taghazout, Tamraght or Aourir.
Best time to visit
Year-round! Spring (Mar–May) and autumn (Sep–Nov) have the most pleasant temperatures. Summer mornings before 11 AM are fine — afternoons get hot and the sand burns. Winters are mild and beautifully empty.
What to bring
Sunglasses (essential — sand reflects), sunscreen, hat, closed shoes (sand gets EVERYWHERE), light jacket for the coast wind, swimsuit if you want to dip in the canyon pool. Boards + helmets are provided.

Is sandboarding scary?
No — much friendlier than snowboarding. Sand is forgiving, falls don't hurt, runs are 50–100 m, and the lesson teaches the basics in 10 minutes. We've had children as young as 5 and grandparents as old as 78 do it.
Can I rent the dunes for myself / a private group?
Most days the dunes feel private — there are rarely more than 2–3 groups out there. For a guaranteed-private experience, book the small-group sunset slot or ask for a custom private tour (€200 for 4 pax instead of €60/pax).
What's the "secret canyon"?
A 200-metre-deep wadi cutting through the dunes inland, with seasonal pools and dramatic rock walls. Easy 10-minute walk from the trailhead. Most tours include 30–45 minutes there for photos and a swim if water levels allow.
Is the lunch at a Berber home really included?
On most operators' tours, yes — and it's often the highlight. Samir's mother in Aghroud village makes the chicken-tagine that travellers rave about in 100+ TripAdvisor reviews. Vegetarian/vegan options arranged in advance.
